LBG : About LBG-USA : the LBG model
the LBG model
The LBG model provides a comprehensive and consistent set of measures for CCI professionals to determine their company's contribution to the community, including cash, time and in-kind donations, as well as management costs. The model also captures the outputs and longer-term impacts of CCI projects on society and the business itself.
The LBG model compliments other widely used business management tools such as CECP's Corporate Giving Standard.
Capturing the inputs- What you give
LBG starts by defining the inputs:
- cash,
- time,
- in-kind gifts, and
- management costs
It enables members to report how they contribute in a variety of ways:
- How we contribute - contributions in cash, time, in-kind, management costs
- Why we contribute - charitable gifts, community investment, commercial initiatives in the community
- What we support - Subject focus including education, environment, arts and culture, community development
- Where we contribute - geographic breakdowns, e.g: Europe, Asia/Pacific, North America, by US states or regions.
Measuring the Benefits
LBG works with companies to help them quantify the short and longer term achievements of the contribution to both the community and the business.
When assessing outputs the LBG model covers the following areas:
- leverage of cash and resources from other sources drawn in by the program;
- the community benefit, such as the number of people in society who benefit;
- the business benefit which accrues
Impacts
Impacts are more difficult to quantify than outputs and can often only be assessed in the longer term. Impacts differ from outputs in expressing not just what a company's contribution has brought to the community but how the world has changed as a result.
