What is LBG

History of LBG

In 1994 six companies,Diageo, IBM, Whitbread, Marks & Spencer, BP, NatWest Bank came together to evaluate their community investment programs under the guidance of The Corporate Citizenship Company. In doing so, they developed some basic common definitions and standards which they were subsequently asked to share more widely. This resulted in the formation of the London Benchmarking Group (LBG).

Today, LBG is a group of over 125 companies working together to measure Corporate Community Investment (CCI).

LBG has evolved to become a:

  • management framework to help companies better value, measure and report corporate community investments
  • management tool that enables community involvement managers to demonstrate the value of their community investments
  • network of over 125 companies worldwide which are working to advance community involvement best practices
  • Leader in developing the field of corporate community involvement

LBG is recognized globally with LBG centers in key world market's including UK, Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, France and Germany, with South Africa coming soon
